N21 is the fashion brand, created and directed by renowned designer Alessandro Dell'Acqua.
The debut collection was presented in February 2010 during Milan Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2010/20.
N21 brings together Alessandro Dell'Acqua's experience, awareness, and newfound freedom: elements that have guaranteed thecollection's success from the very beginning.
International press coverage has manifested itself through significant praise and an ever-increasing number of articles, stylist editorials, and world-renowned celebrities support.
The designer decided to focus his energies on a new approach, extremely authentic and rich in meaning, merging his vast experience in knitwear and product design to create a contemporary ready-to-wear proposal.
N21 offers a modern and deeply feminine wardrobe, enriched with touches and details inspired by the men's wardrobe. The mix of feminine and masculine elements in the fabrics and silhouettes quickly became one of the brand's signature codes.
Offering clothing, footwear and accessories for men and women, the brand is distributed in major multi-brand stores around the world. In 2014, N21 opened its first flagship store in Tokyo's Omotesando district, beginning its retail presence in major international cities.
THE FOUNDER
ALESSANDRO DELL'ACQUA
Born in Naples in 1962, Alessandro dell’Acqua graduated from the city’s Academy of Fine Arts. His career took off early: at just 23, he was appointed Creative Director of Genny. He subsequently took the creative lead at Pietro Pianforini, an essential experience for honing his mastery of the knitwear world.
In March 1996, he debuted his first eponymous collection at Milan Fashion Week, receiving immediate acclaim from both critics and buyers. Two years later, in January 1998, he presented his first menswear line at the 53rd edition of Pitti Immagine Uomo in Florence.
The Alessandro dell’Acqua brand expanded rapidly: launching a women's footwear line in 2000 and an eyewear collection in 2003 under license with Allison. 2001 marked his debut in the beauty industry with his first women's fragrance (EuroItalia); in 2003, top model Helena Christensen became the face of the advertisingc ampaign shot by Helmut Newton. In the following years, the designer lent his talent to prestigious maisons such as La Perla, Malo, and Brioni.
His aesthetic vision has always been deeply linked to the worlds of art and photography, as evidenced by collaborations with Vanessa Beecroft, Juergen Teller, and Helmut Newton, as well as hisconnection with fashion icons like Eva Herzigova and Mariacarla
Boscono.
2010 represented a turning point. After leaving his eponymous line, dell’Acqua founded N21, a project for which he serves as both founder and creative soul. The brand achieved immediate success thanks to a modern, distinctive wardrobe with a sharp eye for
contemporary trends. N21 has since launched numerous prestigious collaborations with brands such as Kartell, K-Way, 7 For All Mankind, Fila, Wolford, and Scholl.
Alongside the success of his own brand, from 2013 to 2019, he held the role of Creative Director for the French maison Rochas. In January 2014, driven by strong market demand, the first N21 menswear collection was presented at the 85th edition of Pitti Uomo. In April 2017, the brand inaugurated its new 1,500-square-meter headquarters in Milan, located at Via Archimede 26.
The designer also signed a first capsule collection in collaboration with TOD’S for the T-Factory project (2018) and continues to engage with major international groups, including Max Mara, and his recent creative direction for the luxury brand MVST.
